Cody Went Off Into The Wild Blue Yonder...Finally! ; )

June 1, 2010 Cody finally left for the USAF! Mom, Cody, Lindsay, Amanda and I all went to witness his swearing-in ceremony. It was really cool! I felt so proud of him and very emotional. I couldn't help but think how proud my Dad would have been of him. He stood so straight and tall and took it all very seriously. He's very excited but nervous at the same time. I just got his address yesterday and I hope some (or all) of you will drop him a line. He'll be at that address through the end of July. Then off to Shepard AF Base in Texas for 8 more weeks of technical school (nuclear weapons). From there, he'll get to come home for at least a week or two. Then, who knows where he'll be. One of the possibilities is Germany. I already miss him so much! He moved back home for the last week he was here and it was so nice to have him around. He's grown up so much...but he's still just as goofy as ever!! haha! I'm sure he's going to have some really great stories to tell (along with his comedic embellishment, of course)!
His address is:
AB High, Cody M.
323 TRS/FLT 505 (Dorm A.9.) PSC3 1320 Truemper St. Unit 369557 Lackland, AFB, TX 78236-5570

My Latest Ventures

Well, a couple of months ago, I joined a gym and then they talked me into getting a personal trainer. The gym membership was really inexpensive but I soon found out the catch...they talked me into getting a personal trainer!! That's where the expense comes in! So, now I have a close relationship with a really nice young man named James Flake who I spend an hour with once a week. He convinced me to sign up for Pat's Run (a 4.2 mile walk/run at ASU to honor Pat Tillman and raise money for the foundation set up in his name that gives out scholarships). I actually did it last Saturday and finished! I only walked but I didn't stop a single time and I finished in an hour and twelve minutes!! I am very proud of that accomplishment because only about 2 months ago, I had had absolutely no physical activity for about the last 20 years!! oorah!! I'm ready to do it again. A 5K is a mile less than that so I may enter some more races. I haven't lost a lot of weight yet but I am losing and I've lost inches. Wish I could go on Dancing With the Stars! lol!

Off We Go Into The Wild Blue Yonder!!

Well, for all of you who have been wondering....Cody has taken the ASVAB test (got an 80) and has passed the physical for the Air Force.  He could leave anywhere from the next five days up to six months (but it will probably be soon, because he has requested the most dangerous jobs!).  He's started working out to get in shape because he will have to pass a physical endurance test to get into the program he wants.  He wants to be EOD (Explosives Ordinance Demolition, I think) or TACP (Tactical Air Command Party, I think).  Oh, my goodness!  Just what a mother does NOT want to hear!!  He REALLY wants to be TACP.  They are the first to go in to the front lines and tell the pilots where to bomb.  Yikes!  I think I need a sedative!!  He's very happy about it and hopes to get to travel as well.  I never in my wildest dreams thought Cody would do this but, if it makes him happy, then I'm happy!

Not One to be Left Out~~

hmmm....looks like several of my family members are doing this so I thought I should give it a try.  I enjoy looking at their blogs, so I hope I can make mine interesting enough for everyone.  My life is pretty boring so I hope I don't bore you!  Well, I'm off to create my page, so I'll see ya soon!!
